Brad
Bingham - The Inside Story
By Brad Bingham
Health, Period 2
9th Grade
Throughout
the years, I have learned a lot about myself. A few of the things that
I have learned are: my feelings are easily hurt, I think of myself as
a person who is good in sports and athletics, I wouldn't trade places
with anybody else in the world, I seldom worry, I just take things as
they come, and I have an excellent sense of humor.
The
fact that my feelings are easily hurt is a big characteristic of my
personality. That does not make me a wimp, or a baby, it just means
that I am a very sensitive person. It does not bother me if people think
that guys aren't supposed to be sensitive, because I know that everyone
is different.
When
I stated I was a person who was good in sports and athletics, I wasn't
trying to be conceited or stuck-up, I was just saying that sports are
a major part of my life and I am a very athletic person. Ever since
I was six years old, I have been playing some kind of organized sport.
I played baseball for twelve seasons, soccer for four years, football
for four years, swimming for one year, I am a yellow belt in karate,
and I am currently in my seventh year as a basketball player. So it
is obvious that sports are a very important part of my life.
The
one thing that I certainly wouldn't want to do is trade places with
anybody else in the world. I am happy to be me. God created me the way
that I am and the person I am going to be for a reason. Some people
say they would want to be a famous person. I think that instead of wishing
you could be a famous person, you should work hard to become a famous
person. If you work hard enough, and God wants you to be a famous person,
then you will be a famous person.
I
find at times, that I seldom worry, I just take things as they come.
Because I know that whatever happens to me, or anybody else, is God's
will, and God wouldn't do anything to hurt me or anybody else. When
something is expected of me, or I am supposed to do something, I don't
worry if what I do will please anybody, I just do it the best that I
can, because I know that if I try my hardest, then it will be the right
way to do it.
To
me, one of my most important character traits, is the fact that I have
an excellent sense of humor. I think that if you have a good sense of
humor, you have a good personality. My most important characteristic
is the fact that I can laugh at myself. I can laugh at myself when I
do things the wrong way, when I mess-up, or even when people make-fun
of me. To me, people need to be able to laugh at themselves, because
if they can't laugh at themselves, then they shouldn't laugh at anybody
else.
Those
are just a few of the things that I have learned about myself over the
years of my life. The most important thing that I have learned about
anybody, and one of the rules that I live by, is just be yourself, don't
base your personality on what other people want you to be.
